Halloween Bake Sale

Hello all,

The first fundraiser is over! It was actually a lot more fun (and more successful) than I thought it would ever be, raising a total of £96.20! Thank you so much to everyone who came and bought cake off us, we really appreciate it 🙂

Obviously this couldn’t have been done without the amazing work of my friends, who spent their whole Sunday baking and decorating cake with me! Thank you so much to you guys – you rock 😀

Happy Halloween to all!

Charlotte 🙂

Radio Morning

Hi all,

On Wednesday 26th October I was fortunate enough to be invited into Cambridge 105 for a 10 minute chat with Phil Rowe. It was such an amazing experience! I had never been into a radio station and although I found it slightly nerve racking it was really enjoyable.

If you missed it and want to listen, just click this link:

A big thank you to Phil and Cambridge 105 for having me on and being so kind to me, I really appreciate it! An added than you as well, for playing my favourite band (The Hoosiers) for me on air before I left.

Hopefully this is the first of many things that raises awareness of my year helping Honduras!

Radio Appearance

Hello all,

Exciting news! I am going to be appearing on Cambridge 105 at 11:30 this Wednesday (the 26th) to talk about Project Trust/my volunteer year in Honduras! I am so grateful to have been given this amazing opportunity to spread awareness of Project Trust and my personal journey.

I get to actually go into the radio station which is really exciting because it is the first time I’ll have ever done anything like this before.

I will be sure to update you all on how it goes!

In other news it is half term so although that means revision and college work it also means I have a week to plan and think of more fundraising ideas.

Look forward to another post very soon,

Charlotte 🙂

On The Way

Hi everyone!

It’s been a while, but college is weighing me down at the moment – I’ve had history coursework, my ucas application and personal statement to name a few things. However, my fundraising appears to be underway nevertheless!

Today Hannah and I (my friend who is off to to teach in India next year with Project Trust) organised a Halloween Bake Sale at our college. It’s very exciting, mainly because it is the first fundraising event I have ever organised! We’ve designed posters and an email to be sent out to the whole school so I hope it is going to go well. Thankfully our friends are willing to help out and bake some cakes!

I also finished my leaflet and have started writing to charitable trusts. So far fundraising is a lot of tough work but I know it is all going to be worth it in the end. I just have to think of some amazing Christmas events!

I shall update you all again soon,

Charlotte 🙂

First Steps

Hello Everyone!

This is my first official blog post and it finds me right at the beginning of my journey of a lifetime with Project Trust.

This experience begins with a challenge- fundraising.

I thought this would be a fitting time to write about this as I’ve just flicked my calendar over to the new month and the quote for this month is:

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”
~Lao Tzu

This certainly sums up how this year and the next is going to be with me – I will be in Honduras in less than 365 days! So far though, I have made my first step and find that everything is going very well. I’ve managed to balance my busy college life (with tests, UCAS applications and of course sport) with my fundraising efforts. I set up my Virgin Money Giving page which has been very successful, already bringing in £200. I am so grateful to everyone who has donated so far!!

Today I also nearly finished my leaflet which I am planning to get printed this week and then start sending out in the masses. This will be an easy way to quickly show people who I am, what the year is about, and why I need support.

There’s not a lot to say besides that my preparations for Honduras are also underway. I am finding that the app Duolingo is a really easy and accessible way for me to learn more Spanish 🙂

I will be back to update everyone shortly!
¡Adios!

Charlotte
