Sun, sea + stress

Hello all,

Just a quick update to let you know what I’ve been up to (whilst I take a much needed break from revising the GDR). Firstly, whilst I’m on study leave + having to dedicate a lot of time to remember facts and concepts it is becoming increasingly hard to fundraise. However, I am still feeling hugely supported + a lot of that is due to individual donations. Now, you may not think these make much of a difference, but due to some very generous people giving varying amounts, we have raised £430! That is incredible, almost £500 just through people’s generosity! I cannot thank everyone enough who has donated, it really means a lot to me. It genuinely makes me think people feel what I am doing is important which is such a wonderful thing, I’m very excited to get out to Honduras and start helping!

Of course I’m not spending all of my time revising or working, and whilst there is some surprise nice weather upon us I’ve been taking some very sunny revision breaks. Yesterday I had a de-stress session on the beach – necessary and useful for adjusting to Honduran weather… 😉

After that lovely break it is time to settle back into revising hard for A-Levels but I won’t be forgetting to fundraise! It is going to be a very busy, but very exciting, couple of months. After a drop off of items from my grandma (¡muchas gracias!) I now have a good collection for the car boot sale I will soon be attending! I will also be attending some summer events I will soon announcing but the most exciting news I’m going to have to keep concealed for a little while longer… Although I will say I’ve just conformation from my local counsellor that I have permission to put on the event! So, I’m midst finalising my organisation of that + will be letting you all know what it will be very soon! Perhaps you should start warming up your ovens in preparation 😉

Thank you to all my amazing supporters,

Charlotte 🙂

Project Announcement

¡Hola!

This is a very special post because today I have found out where I will be volunteering and working for the next year of my life 🙂

I’ve been placed in..

Yamarangulia, Honduras

Yes, I’m struggling to pronounce it myself, but I’m sure with 12 months practice it will roll off the tongue! This looks like an incredible place to be situated: it is in the pine forest foothills + isn’t baking hot constantly being in the south west of Honduras +from the google searches I have done, it looks really beautiful. I am absolutely determined to learn as much Spanish as possible so I hope when I’m there I will be immersing myself in it continually.

I’ll be working in Vida Abudante (a school that opened in 2015), which is a bilingual education centre that tries to overcome problems of the national system. It helps some of the poorest children in Honduras by providing them with a high quality education, with over 50% of students being on a full scholarship + 30% being on a part scholarship. This means they provide students with the resources needed to attend school and better their quality of life. I’m really excited to offer my assistance teaching, help any struggling students and try to make the biggest positive impact I can! There is a girls home near to the school and past volunteers have done work there in spare time which is an opportunity I am really enthusiastic about. I can’t wait to get out there now to join a new community and help so early August doesn’t seem soon enough!

I’m on the home stretch of fundraising so if anyone would like to make any donation, no matter the amount, it would be hugely appreciated:

Thank you so much to all that have been supporting me – be prepared for my next (+ last) big event I will be announcing very soon,

Charlotte 🙂
